Migrations

mdboard migrate prints one net summary before changing the board.

mdboard migrate --to 3

The summary shows:

  • installed and target schema/version/build date;
  • New, Changed and Removed user-facing behaviour;
  • impact;
  • required human action;
  • known risk.

Nothing is written until the summary is approved:

mdboard migrate --to 3 --yes

Net-change rule

A multi-step migration is reported as one version jump.

  • introduced then removed → omit;
  • changed repeatedly → final state;
  • removed then reintroduced → final state.

Only user-facing behaviour counts. Documentation-only and agent-only changes are omitted.

Unknown pre-state

A hand-edited or unknown pre-state fails closed. The agent must show the expected state, differences, missing prerequisites and repair options before migration.
